The joint ‚Sudan Day Berlin 2023‘ of the Sudan Archaeological Society of Berlin (SAG e.V.), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung and the German Archaeological Institute is taking place on 24 June 2023 in Berlin and Online: Programme here + further information below.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
with great concern and dismay we are following the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan and its devastating consequences for the Sudanese people and the country. There are too many casualties already. Sudan’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage is also at risk from the armed conflict and the resulting instability. In the interest of the people of Sudan and their rich cultural heritage, we hope that the current conflict will be quickly resolved.
Even in this difficult situation, we would like to facilitate the annual exchange between Sudanese and German researchers within the framework of the Sudan Day Berlin, which is jointly organized by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Sudan Archaeological Society Berlin (SAG) e.V., the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung (ÄMP-SMB) and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI Berlin & DAI-KAAK).
We therefore invite you to attend our research colloquium, which will take place on 24 June 2023 from 10:00-18:00 in the main building of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. This year, the Sudan Day Berlin is dedicated to the topic ‘Lifeways in ancient Sudan’. The invitation with the current programme and further information can be found here.
